The use of Japanese cedar in our daily lives means that the people who live in the mountains, the people who live in the villages, and the people who live in our towns are grateful for the daily work that we are able to do. Although a little more expensive than beds imported from overseas, we, who cut down the trees, milled the lumber, and made the furniture, have carefully worked on each piece of furniture to create a bed of cedar that will make you feel at home. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan started the "Wood Change Project" several years ago, and is working as a country to increase self-sufficiency in lumber. Two-thirds of the country's land is covered by forests, and about half of these forests are man-made. In order to protect Japan's mountains and forests, the lives of people living in the mountains and villages must continue, or else the wonderful Japanese mountains and forests will become obsolete.
